SIOUX CITY, Ia — The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors voted 4 to 1 Tuesday night to approve a memo of understanding between the County and the Rolling Hills Region that Woodbury County will join that 7-county region on July 1st of 2019.
Democrat Marty Pottebaum was the only "no" vote.
Supervisor Jeremy Taylor says he's looking forward to the move.
"The established reputation that they have in Western Iowa, I think it's going to be a great thing. It's a great piece of news for those in need of mental health services as well as tax payers," said Taylor.
Taylor says work can now begin with Rolling Hills to set the group's budget for Fiscal Year 2020, factoring Woodbury County's membership.
The county is currently appealing to the Iowa Department of Human Services for an exemption to regional membership rules for Fiscal Year 2019, which starts July 1st.
