SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Explorers baseball is set to return to Sioux City this weekend, with spring training games set to take place this Saturday and Sunday. A group that missed out on last year's postseason by just one game, the X's enter the 2023 campaign with several new faces to the roster and to the front office. At Wednesday's media day event at the ballpark, members of the Explorers explained why local fans should be excited for Sioux City baseball.
"I do like my offense right now," said Sioux City Explorers Manager Steve Montgomery. "I think we have good balance on left and right, and we have a good amount of power. I'm really excited about the double potential for this team on paper."
"From everyone I've talked to, they're all bought in on one goal - that's coming in here to win, and let all the other stuff take care of itself," said Sioux City Explorers outfielder Chase Harris. "I'm looking forward to packing the stands, having a good time, and letting the fans see us win a bunch of games here."
The Explorers will host two spring training games this weekend, both events are free to the public. Saturday the X's will take on the Lincoln Saltdogs at 1:05 p.m., followed by a matchup with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks Sunday afternoon at 3:05 p.m.
