NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. — Success on the mound comes naturally to Dakota Valley’s Beau Pollema, already posting a perfect 3-0 record for the Panthers. In 14.2 innings of work, the junior has allowed just 7 hits and has recorded 27 strikeouts.
As a result of his preparation throughout the offseason, Pollema’s pitching style is very precise, however he does like to keep his routine fairly simple.
"I would say my fastball and my off-speed pitches are really working right now," said Pollema. "I throw a curveball, and I throw a slider. Those two or three pitches are just hard to touch."
While Pollema is an incredible individual talent, the Panthers are 11-1 as a collective unit for a reason, a group that trots out quality players at every single position. Pollema and Dakota Valley are used to success on the diamond, looking to make their way back to another state championship appearance.
