Two Bite Burgers - Recipe of the Week
This summer, Siouxland News is teaming up with the Iowa Beef Industry Council to provide you a Recipe of the Week every Wednesday.
May is National Hamburger Month, and nothing is better than a big, juicy burger from the grill. Whether you prefer the classic toppings , like ketchup, mustard, pickles, and onions, or choose to show your creative spirit, burgers will always please your crowd.
Today's recipe is for "Two Bite Burgers". Memorial Day Weekend is on the way, so what better way to celebrate than by firing up the grill and creating mini burgers for your party or barbecue?
Here's what you will need for this recipe:
-One pound of ground beef
-Nine hamburger buns
-1/4 cup of minced onion
-One egg white
-Two cloves of garlic, minced
-1/2 teaspoon of salt
-1/8 teaspoon of pepper
Tear one hamburger bun into pieces. Place in a food processor or blender. Cover and blend to form fine crumbs.
Combine ground beef, 1/2 cup bread crumbs, onion, egg white, garlic, salt and pepper in medium bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Shape into eight 1/2-inch thick mini patties.
Place patties on a grid over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, covered, for 8 to 9 minutes (over medium heat on preheated gas grill, 9 to 10 minutes) until instant-read thermometer inserted horizontally into center registers 160°F, turning occasionally.
About 1-1/2 minutes before burgers are done, place rolls, cut sides down, on the grid. Grill until lightly toasted.
Serve burgers in buns as desired.
